Whiskey 16 Tourer

Introduced in 2016, the Whisky 16 Tourer is an ultra-strong polyethylene kayak designed by Nigel Foster to be everything he believes a kayak should be and then some. A complete beginner can feel like Nigel Foster in the cockpit of a Whisky 16. In calm water, the kayak is comfortable, stable and easy to manoeuvre - a perfect kayak to develop your skills.

The Tourer has less "rocker", meaning the nose and stern are a little lower compared to the more rocker version, which makes it faster and more stable, but not as maneuverable and is therefore equipped with a rudder as standard.

3-layer PE construction gives the Whisky 16 rigidity and strength while reducing weight. The Whisky 16 has two large oval cargo hatches front and rear, a large round day hatch behind the cockpit for accessing smaller items while paddling and a Whisky hatch, a smaller snack hatch in front of the cockpit.

The padded cockpit is spacious and comes equipped with an ergonomically designed seat that provides excellent support but also close contact with the kayak needed in rough seas. The Whisky 16 Tourer comes standard with the Point 65 AIR-Backrest™, an inflatable backrest for the best comfort and support.

The hull is designed with large volume in the bow and stern and a slightly rounded bottom shape with sharp cuts running from bow to stern. This results in a stable, yet very maneuverable shape that is specifically designed for larger water and precision paddling. The large volume in the bow and stern prevents a so-called "broach" where the bow digs in when surfing, which often results in a swim.

The deck design is adapted to allow easy access to hatches in all types of weather and temperatures and to ensure that deck fittings etc. are not in the way during rescue manoeuvres. Based on Nigel's experience of kayaking expeditions in extreme conditions, Nigel Foster has designed the Whisky 16 for both pleasure and expeditions in extreme waters.
